Do you like Lost Ruins of Arnak? Did you know ther Do you like Lost Ruins of Arnak? Did you know there’s a new expansion for it?Arnak is one of my most played games and an all-time favorite. Twisted Path was the last major expansion for this game, but CGE recently announced a new small box expansion out of the blue: Surprise Shipment. A very fitting name! This expansion includes two new sites, both with a new benefit: taking back an idol from a slot on your player board, which plays very well with expedition leaders. There’s also an updated site that makes a site from the base game more balanced. Most importantly, Surprise Shipment includes 50 new cards: 30 artifacts and 20 items. Some of these cards introduce new effects. For example, an item gives you benefits depending on the round, another lets you activate sites in a row above where you have a worker, and some artifacts can be purchased using compasses, coins, or any combination of both. Some cards also provide powerful bonuses but score negative points, and you get a fear card when you exile them.If you love Arnak, this expansion is a no-brainer. It adds variety to the game, the cards are as thematic as before, and the new sites make playing with the leaders more fun. What are your thoughts? Have you seen this expansion? Please keep in mind that we received a review copy of this expansion.#boardgame #boardgames #juegosdemesa #brettspiel
Do you like Heat? Have you played any of the new e Do you like Heat? Have you played any of the new expansions that came out this year?Heat is one of the best light games out there. We always enjoy getting it to the table and have a blast playing it every single time. It has been getting expansions every year for the past few years, and 2026 was no exception. Unlike previous years, we got two new expansions this year instead of one: Rocky Roads and Legends.Rocky Roads is your classic Heat expansion. It comes with two new tracks (Germany and South Africa), a new player color (white), and more cards. The South Africa track has a new mechanic: gravel. If you end up on a gravel space at the end of your turn, you have to pay one Heat, as long as you have Heat cards in your engine. The Germany track also includes a minor mechanic called chicanes, which mostly matters if you play with the weather module. This expansion adds more variety, but it is not groundbreaking. If you liked previous Heat expansions, you will most likely enjoy this one too. If you did not, this one won’t change your mind.Legends is a small box expansion that aims to improve the Legends module in the base game. As you know, the Legends module lets you add more cars to the race and make it more fun regardless of the player count. With the base game, you can only race with a maximum of 6 cars. The Legends expansion increases that number to 12. But that’s not all! The legend cars are now smarter and can simulate a human player better. There are also six levels of difficulty you can choose from (the easiest one being the base game’s difficulty). If you want as many cars in the race as possible, play the game solo, or play the championship mode, this expansion is the way to go.What are your thoughts? Have you tried any of these expansions? Please keep in mind that we recieved a review copy of this game. #boardgame #boardgames #tabletop
Do you like deck-building games? Have you seen Dri Do you like deck-building games? Have you seen Drillers?Deck-building is one of my favorite mechanics in games. The sense of progression and the constant tension of deciding when and how to spend resources to add cards to your deck or remove them from it is so fun.Drillers is a medium-weight pick-up-and-deliver, deck-building game with fairly simple rules. You work in a mine, collectively unlock lower levels that contain more valuable minerals, and move them to the surface to sell and earn credits. With those credits, you can remove cards from your deck, purchase new cards from the market, and upgrade your fuel (what you pay to play cards) or mineral storage capacity. All these actions happen on the surface, so you have to move up when you are running out of fuel or capacity and spend credits for a stronger subsequent run. You also have access to drones that let you sell one mineral or buy one card each without surfacing. Each turn, you get three new cards in your hand plus whatever you saved from your previous turn. Most cards provide movement and drill points. As the game goes on, you need better cards to move more and to have enough drill points for the lower floors. This is a deck-building game. You cannot ignore your deck. As part of a winning strategy, you must buy new cards and remove cards from your deck. For that reason, people who don't like deck-builders will not enjoy this game. But if you like this mechanism, you'll certainly have fun with it.There isn't much player interaction besides competing for cards, milestones, and sometimes valuable minerals, but turns play quickly most of the time. That said, this game can also cause analysis paralysis. If you or someone in your group suffers from AP, some turns could take a while.Overall, we've been enjoying this game so far. It's fun, plays fairly quickly, the rules are simple, and the artwork is beautiful. If you don't like deck-builders or pick-up-and-deliver, this might not be a game for you. Otherwise, definitely give it a try. Please keep in mind that we received a review copy of this game.#boardgame #boardgames #juegosdemesa #brettspiel
Do you like 3D puzzles? I love all sorts of puzzl Do you like 3D puzzles?I love all sorts of puzzles, but I've never said yes to covering them here. When I saw these Arkitec ones, though, I couldn't say no 😄 They are absolutely beautiful! The two models I received come in small boxes with flat wooden sheets, a motor, a PCB in a case, battery housing, and LEDs. Assembly takes a few hours, but the end result is impressive. Arkitec has done a great job adding depth to the final builds.Everything you might need, including a screwdriver, tape, glue, and sandpaper, is already included in the box. You start the build by connecting all the electronic parts together to make sure everything works. The motors are so quiet that I thought it was broken when I tested one for the first time. After that, you'll follow the instructions and build everything step by step.In the end, some pieces move using the motor, while others are lit up with the LEDs. You can power the build with batteries or USB-C, and everything turns on with a touch sensor. The quality of the sheets is great, and the final result is sturdy. These kits are fun to build, look beautiful, and are quite affordable. They can make wonderful gifts or an excellent option to wind down and end up with a new decoration for your game room.Have you tried any of the Arkitec kits? Please keep in mind that we received review copies of these units.#puzzle #3dpuzzle #boardgame #boardgames
