Have you played Evolution or Oceans? Do you like t Have you played Evolution or Oceans? Do you like these games? Nature is the next game in the Evolution series coming to Kickstarter next week. In this game, similar to its predecessors, you create species, evolve them in different ways, and score points for the food they eat. The best feature of this game is its modular expansion system. The box comes with 5 modules, and you can include up to two of them in each play. North Star Games will be releasing one module every year for the next decade, so this game will have new content for a long time. Every game in this series has a strong theme and Nature is no exception. The modules, in particular, are highly thematic while adding a lot of variability to the game. If you enjoy Evolution or Oceans, Nature will likely be a great fit for you. However, if you weren’t a fan of those games, these changes might not be enough to win you over as the overall feel of the game is the same. For those new to the series, Nature is probably the best entry point. After the unfortunate closure of TMG, the original publisher, the future of this game seemed uncertain. But last year, Synapses Games announced a new edition, and it's now available.This edition features stunning new artwork, upgraded components, dual-layered boards, and removable resource trays. Did you know there’s one available for Tapestry?I didn’t know such an accessory existed until a few months ago! We almost always have issues with warped boards and cards due to our climate, and the Tapestry board was no exception. The board wasn’t laying fully flat on the table because of this. We love Tapestry, and it’s been hitting our table quite often since its release, but the board issue has been bothering me for the longest time.Enter the natural rubber playmat! Besides resolving the aforementioned issue, it has a high print quality, and, more importantly, offers dedicated spaces for everything you put on the table during the game, including landmarks and cards. This mat also has support for all released expansions. It incorporates the Arts track and accommodates masterpiece cards and landmark miniatures from the Arts and Architecture expansion, as well as landmark cards and miniatures from the Plans and Ploys expansion. These features make setup easier and keep the table organized, especially when the game is played with all expansions.Similar to most upgrades for any game, this mat isn’t essential to enjoy the game, but it’s a good investment if the game hits the table often. The game's artwork and board design, especially the shimmering river, are gorgeous.While long-term replayability could become a concern, the game's quick nature helps mitigate this issue.
